As the air gets dryer and jackets come out of hiding, Warrior basketball season comes around once again to give the community a cozy place to drink hot cocoa on a windy day, and to give an opportunity to donate to those in need.
The men’s basketball team has been preparing themselves for the start of their season with pre-season matches. So far, the men have won 3 games and lost 4. Their first CCAA game was at Cal State Dominguez Hills and fell to the Toros with a final score of 42-57.
On Dec. 9, the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena will host the team’s second CCAA game at 7:30. Playing the Warriors will be Cal State Monterey Bay. The otters’ season has so far held a 2-6 standing.
Clinton Tremelling, the Men’s Basketball Assistant, shared some goals that the team has set for the anticipated season.
“[We want] to try to be better than we were yesterday. If we do that, things will fall into place. Any upcoming opponent on our schedule [is who we anticipate playing] because that’s the most important game. One game at a time is how we take things,” Tremelling said.
Jessica’s House has been preparing for this winter/holiday season, as well. The house that offers guidance and support for grieving youth and families has partnered with Warrior Athletics for this Friday’s game.
To remember what the holidays are all about, a toy drive will be present at the basketball game. Jessica’s House encourages bringing a “new, unwrapped toy” to the game to give to kids who may not have anything under their tree.
A donation equals free admission to Friday’s game.
If studying for finals has prevented you from watching the game in person, a live viewing can be found here for $7. For free constant live stats of the game, click here.
