Stanislaus State houses Campus Recreation which helps students maintain their health in many ways. The center’s staff and directors strive to help students and members maintain their health while being in comfortable spaces.
Inside the Rec Center, there is a weight room, cardio room and indoor Rec Court. Whereas outside, the Rec Center offers access to the track and field, practice and rec fields and aquatic facility.
The Rec Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 am to 11 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 6 am to 9 pm. The facilities outside of the Center’s main building will be open according to its availability. This can be checked by the Fusion Play app or by checking in with the Rec Center’s front desk.
Rec Center
Throughout the rooms offered inside the Rec Center, there are many different free weights, workout machines and stations offered to members giving them the ability to get their workouts done in organized areas. Additionally in the Rec Court, the Rec Center will hold multiple indoor sports, including some of the intramural sports.

Michael Cunha, Operations Specialist for the Rec Center, explained how one of the major goals is to give students the opportunity to exercise and keep a healthy lifestyle while being in a good environment.
Cunha shared that he takes pride in how the center has top of the line equipment and is very well organized and clean.
Fitness Programs
Along with giving members a chance to work out on their own, the Rec Center also includes different fitness programs either with group exercise classes that are included in student tuition or personal trainings. These personal trainings are one on one to help students reach their desired fitness levels that are one of the only additional costs at the Rec Center.
Joshua Levesque, the Fitness Coordinator for the Rec Center, organizes the schedules for the center’s experienced student fitness instructors who run some of the offered group exercise classes. These classes can range from cardio workouts to strength training.
“Our group exercise classes are completely free to students, they can walk in any time; they go scheduled but no one has to actually schedule themselves into it; they can just come in. Everyone’s welcome,” said Levesque.
Additional Facilities
The Recreation center also gives students access to the track and field, recreation field and aquatic facility. The track can be found behind the Rec Center and is available for students to use during the facility’s daylight hours as long as it hasn’t been reserved. The Rec field is another outdoor field next to the Child Development Center, where some of the intramural sports will typically take place.
The aquatic facility is at the east end of the Fitzpatrick Arena where students who have aquatic passes can swim within the morning session, 6am to 8am, or evening session, 2 pm to 7 pm, Monday through Friday.

Intramural Sports
The intramural sports are opportunities for students to join teams and play many different sports on campus. Some of the sports offered are dodgeball, basketball, soccer and even ultimate frisbee. Allen McCreary, the Rec Center’s Assistant Director and Director for the Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs, described how even with class time constraints the teams will work together in order to play in these clubs.
“The captains do a really good job at managing teams that if they have late classes we’re able to schedule to make it work for them as well,” explained McCreary.
Sports Clubs
In addition to these facilities giving students the chance to engage with other students on campus, the Rec Center is also starting to include additional opportunities for students to make more connections outside of Stan State’s campus with sports clubs.
Esports are becoming a part of the recreation centers’ sports clubs that will give students the opportunity to play online against other colleges. Men’s volleyball is also in the process of becoming a sports club for Stan State.
Students can also sign up for the exercise classes, intramural sports and sports clubs all through the fusion app.

Aside from the additional sports clubs, the Rec Center also offers events for students to get more involved on campus and make new memories. They have hosted a Warriors Up at Night Event at the Village Cafe where students were able to get food, play games and watch a movie.
