Looking for a way to show your support for California State University, Stanislaus? Join the Made in the CSU campaign and help show California and its legislators what California State Universities (CSUs), like CSU Stanislaus, can contribute to California’s economy.
CSU Stanislaus’s Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) is introducing Made in the CSU to the CSU Stanislaus campus. ASI elected to inform students about the campaign over the course of this month in order to increase awareness.
Made in the CSU is a campaign run by the California State Student Association (CSSA).
CSSA reports on its official website that they serve as “the acknowledged statewide student organization representing, serving and protecting the collective interests of CSU students.”
ASI set up a table on Sept. 18 in the quad providing a variety of Made in the CSU fliers with information about the campaign and some very informative statistics.
ASI gave out wristbands and tickets to be entered in a t-shirt drawing to inspire interest. They also took pictures of students holding a Made in the CSU board to be used in a grand collage to show CSU Stanislaus’s support for the campaign.
In regard to what facts the campaign has gathered about the benefit of a university, CSSA provided statements about CSUs and their impact on California’s economy.
“For every $1 invested by the state, the CSU returns $5.43 in economic impact,” the CSSA says on its website. “That’s a five-fold return on investment.”
That’s an impressive figure, and CSU Stanislaus’s students, alumni, staff and faculty are a part of that enormous impact.
CSU alumni account for more than half of the employees in health and medicine, teaching, social work, etc.
A job-seeking alumni will most likely encounter a fellow CSU alumni, in their relevant workforce, who has been through the same college courses and has an equivalent understanding of the subject matter.
By signing the Made in the CSU pledge online, many can show their support of CSU Stanislaus and all California State Universities. This will bring awareness to California legislators that CSU students, alumni, faculty and staff are a major portion of California’s population and workforce.
To sign the pledge or show your support for CSUs go to madeinthecsu.com. For more information on the CSSA and how to get involved with them you can visit their website at csustudents.org.
