The College of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will be welcoming Founding Chairman & National Organizer of the Black Panther Party Bobby Seale.
On Thursday Feb. 19, Seale will host a free talk beginning at 7 p.m. at the Mainstage Theatre. Mr. Seale has been an iconic African-American political figure and community activist, working as the foundation for one of the most prominent social change movements in African American history, and is also the author of Seize the Time: The Story of the Black Panther Party and Huey Newton and an autobiography titled A Lonely Rage.
Prior to the event, students are invited to participate in the discussion session with Mr. Seale, open from 2:15-3:45 p.m. in MSR 130. Bobby Seale’s talk will also set the stage for speaker Ericka Higgins on March 17. Higgins, too, played a role in the Black Panthers and is a noted human rights activist.
