The University Student Union (USU) has been working hard in preparation to color the campus during the second annual Run4U Color Run, which is set for Sept. 19 at California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State).
This year’s Run4U seeks to provide students with a colorful 5K run or walk that is suitable for anyone to enjoy.
Run4U is a way to kick off StanFest weekend and get students excited for the concert taking place later that day, as well as the StanFest Carnival on Sept. 20.
USU Event Coordinator Rita Gouda has taken students’ suggestions from last year’s Run4U race to ensure this year’s color run will be better.
“Our goal is to make it bigger and better each year (…) we took the suggestions from last year and have implemented them this year,” Gouda said.
The Run4U race is one of the many events USU and Associated Students Inc. (ASI) have planned for the students at Stan State. It is their goal to provide affordable entertainment for the students to enjoy.
The event will include free parking, snacks and drinks for the runners, as well as a live DJ courtesy of KCSS. There will be awards for the first male and female to complete the 5K color run race.
The race kicks off Saturday, Sept. 19 at the University quad. Check-ins begin at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.
Run4U is open to students from Stan State for $20, as well as to the general public for $30. Groups of 10-12 participants can take advantage of the group discount and save $2 on each member when checking in together.
Make sure to check in early! The first 250 people receive a special Warrior t-shirts and headbands to wear during the run. Participants are advised to sign the participant waiver form prior to the event in order to speed up the check-in process.
“These are the events students get to enjoy. We are there to serve the students and showcase the Union,” Gouda said.
