Perhaps you began counting- only 300 days until summer. Conversely, many of us are eager to reintroduce ourselves to academic routines and responsibilities, at least, we may be for the first couple of weeks of the semester. Whether or not we are feeling it, today is nonetheless an important Monday.
For many it marks a first time experience, for others, the last first day of school in their lifetime, and for many faculty and staff, a continuation of a long summer of planning and organizing how to make this first significant to us as students. All of these feelings of achievement and adrenaline, of newness and excitement, all happening on a Monday.
The Signal staff takes pride in its role as voice of the student body, and recognizes its duty as an informant during busy Mondays, and remaining days of the week. When the workload intensifies and our days begin to blur into weeks and months, The Signal will be keeping up with fast-paces schedules by providing daily online news content.
This past year has been marked by changes and growth for The Signal. We have taken into account the need for a greater online presence and thus invested time in the development of a new website. Stories provided online can also be viewed by visiting our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. We have built relationships that enabled us to produce the first ever Spanish section, “La Letra Ñ” to begin better serving a multicultural community.
Beginning this year, The Signal’s print publications will be made available monthly rather than biweekly. All content will be published online while the print newspaper will consist of more dense issues containing our top stories expanded with more detail. Additionally, The Signal has evolved in its staffing. As many valuable writers and editors have graduated, they have gone onto grand achievements and have passed on their knowledge, experience and potential for growth.
As new members of The Signal staff, we welcome you Warriors to CSU Stanislaus! Welcome back, to those returning and are a step closer to graduation. Welcome freshman, to four more years with less reminders from professors, and more Top Ramen. Welcome transfer students, we hope to be a part of the diverse experiences each of you bring to the campus.
As students in this community of laborers, parents, commuters and residents, The Signal strives towards serving readers from an array of backgrounds. We will continue to seek improvements in our mission to provide timely and useful news through methods most convenient for our audience, our fellow students. We welcome new and returning fellow Warriors to the beginning the fall 2015 semester, and wish you a very happy Monday.
The Signal offices are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. located in P123.
