Apple takes a lot of flak for not always being the first company to launch the latest feature or service, but what they launch is always the best version of the service that is out. They take it to the next level, and make the service faster with extra features, and do it with style and aesthetics that would please the pickiest customer. This is what Apple has done with the new iOS 6 update for iPhone.
This new update will add Facebook Integration. This will add all of your Facebook friends in with your existing contacts and join birthdays, emails, phone numbers and addresses. And because your Facebook information is integrated, your phone contacts will not remain static. When people update their phone numbers and info via Facebook, your contact information updates as well. iOS 6 will also have automatic birthday calendar reminders.
There is a new in-call slide up menu that gives you the options to either text the caller or set a reminder to call them back. Android 4.1 has the capability to send the text but Google has yet to make the reminder feature available. Don’t we all need a little reminder sometimes?
Sending and receiving email on your iPhone just got better. Before, when you emailed a picture, you had to go to the picture first and then press “Email Photo.” Now you will be able to attach videos and photos in an existing email by simply using the long press. Also, you can set the photo placement in the email and view the email exactly how the recipient will see it.
Apple has 650,000 high quality applications. Yes, Android has come a long way with their 600,000 apps, however most Android users find themselves downloading anti-malware and task killers for fear of phone hackers. This is a serious downside to Android Applications that has never been an issue for Apple.
5 GB of iCloud backup is a free service offered by Apple. This is useful because most of us have probably had either a phone stolen, broken or lost. Automatic backup with iCloud helps relieve the stress of those scenarios. iCloud backs up your contacts, applications, photos, videos, music, device settings and text messages all using one easy service. It is possible to backup all of these services on Android however it can only be done using multiple third party applications.
Speaking of lost, using Find My iPhone you can track your lost phone, lock the phone with a pass code and send your iPhone a message giving it the ability to only call the number of your choosing. So it is quick and easy for the “noble” citizen who found the phone to return it to its rightful owner while still protecting your information
iMessage seamlessly integrated into your text messages. Why would you need this? Say you’re traveling internationally. Just log into any local free WIFI and you can stay connected with any other iPhone users at no additional cost.
Apple takes simple innovation and makes it beautiful; but what really matters is whether you think iPhone iOS 6 is superior to Android 4.1? You decide.
