The Political Science Society (PSS) presented their new club to the students and faculty of California State University, Stanislaus, (Stan State), in the quad on April 12.
This Spring semester marks the first semester for the PSS club to be an active club at Stan State.
The non-partisan student organization’s main focus is to help students by providing them with resources, such as law school, grad school and internship information, fellowships, grants and scholarships.
“We are actually going around to the political science classes and letting them know that we’re here and provide them information,” President and founder of the PSS club, Alfredo R. Vigil-Moran (senior, Political Science) said.
The PSS club is currently getting ready for their mini conference which will be held on Political Science Day, April 27. At the conference, students will be able to showcase any of their academic papers. The papers students can submit for evaluation can be anything from research papers to sample, argumentative, narrative and cause and effect essays.
Professors will be available to critique and give feedback so that students can better the quality of their work.
“Pretty much we showcase our papers for classes and get feedback from them and then once you get the feedback, it makes it a stronger paper so we can present them to our classes,” Moran said.
The PSS members encourage students to join their club to take advantage of their resources offered and to join a community who is passionate about Political Science.
Event Coordinator Paola Aguilera (junior, Political Science) and Secretary Cat Mora (senior, Political Science) both emphasized that anyone can join the club.
“You don’t have to be a Political Science major to join,” Mora said.
The PSS club has meetings every Monday at 3 p.m. in Bizzini Hall 111. Follow them on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @stanstatepsci to keep up with the new organization.
