Last night, the Stanislaus State Men’s Soccer Team played Chico State Wildcats on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at the Warriors Stadium next to the Al Brenda Track.
The Warriors gave up two goals between the 8th minute and the 9th minute of the game. The game in the first half ends with the score of 2-0.
The second half of the game began to become a blow-out as the Wildcats score two goals in two minutes at the 54th and 55th minute. Followed up by two more goals in the 56th and 58th minute.
The Men’s Soccer Team lose to Chico State with the score of 6-0 in a disappointing defeat.
Head Coach, Dana Taylor, shared his thoughts about the team’s performance in the second half. “We have to fight. We have a lot more heart even when we are down on halftime…Within two minutes of the second half being started, we gave up two goals and that’s unacceptable.”
“We are giving up six goals. We gotta assume that we got to get better defensively. We are giving up too many goals,” Taylor said.
Soccer Forward, Jake Mendoza (sophomore, Communications Studies) expressed what he felt about losing the game. “Well, it’s all about losing that game, but you gotta look at the positives out of the game and just try to fix things for the next games that is coming up.”
“We just have some more communication in the game and that will help lead into the win,” Mendoza said.
Defender, Quinlan Graham (sophomore, Biology) felt that the game was an opportunity to improvise their performance. “We’re a young team. We’re inexperienced. It’s been a rough season… we are just learning every game. Hopefully, we can get this and turn this around in the last few games.”
Graham felt that staying “close” to the opponent is the one way to improve defensively while being more “physical” with the opposing offensive team.
The Men’s Soccer team extend their 11 game losing streak as their next opponent will be the Sonoma State Seawolves which will be on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 7 PM PST.
