Rain or shine, the March for Our Lives movement at Turlock occurred in front of Stan State Mar. 24 on the corner of Monte Vista and Geer, at 1 p.m. The movement’s purpose was for change in gun control and justice for the recent shootings that have occurred in schools across America.
Attendance was over 200 people that consisted of current residents in the area to high school and middle school students. Everyone carried a sign and wore the appropriate “March for Our Lives” or “Vota!” T shirt.
The march lasted an hour and a half, giving time to rally in front of the campus and for speakers that talked about some sort of change needed in government to end the countless lives taken from gun violence.
This sister march was held in solidarity to the DC march held the same day.
The Brady Campaign who support gun control was also in attendance during the march.
According to the March for Our Lives website, the march was created by students who “will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of mass shootings that has become all too familiar.”
