Established for the protection of students after dark, The University Police Department(UPD) has been providing evening shuttles throughout campus since the early 1990’s.
Since then, UPD has made continual improvements to the Warrior Express. New changes are expected to arrive later this semester.
The changes that Stan State Warriors can expect to see include improved signage with clear information about shuttle stop locations and a phone number to get a hold of the shuttle.
These improvements will reduce confusion surrounding the shuttle service and increase the number of people that utilize this service.
Students like Zayna Meza (senior, Communication Studies) are aware of the UPD shuttle, but are missing the contact information to use the service.
“I would always see them passing by, I just never knew any information,” said Meza.
Others like Albert Urzua (junior, Liberal Studies) also look for clarification on the service.
“There’s no indication of where you would get picked up or if the shuttle service is free to students.” said Urzua
UPD is also working with disabled student services toward getting a shuttle car that will be more accessible to students with disabilities.
Clint Strode, Interim Chief of Police at CSU Stanislaus is looking forward to providing better service to those with disabilities.
“Inclusivity is something that I think is very important and I want to make sure we provide the best service we can to all of our students,” Said Chief Strode
Currently, student call-takers operate four, 15 passenger electric shuttles. If you are looking for a ride you can text your location and destination to 277-8940 or call 667-3114.
Evening student call-takers will receive and respond to requests Monday – Thursday: 6PM – Midnight and Friday: 6PM – 10PM.
Disability Resource Services currently provides transportation for students with disabilities. They are located in the Vasche Library room L 165 and can be reached at 667-3159.
