KCSS 91.9 FM, California State University, Stanislaus’ student-run radio station, will host the fourth annual Bandstand concert at 8 p.m. May 10 at the Grizzly Rock Café in Turlock.
The Bandstand is a one-night music festival, showcasing local musicians from Turlock and the surrounding areas. Three stages will be set up, two on the patio and one in the bar, with local artists of all genres. Admission is free.
The Bandstand has brought hundreds of guests to the Grizzly Rock Café in past years, and this year is expected to be the same.
“Bandstand is always a huge event, ”said KCSS Promotions and Marketing Director Angelina Moles. “I’m excited to be putting it together and can’t wait for these amazing local bands to get some great recognition.”
Performing at this year’s Bandstand are:
– The Old Refrain, a three-piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Turlock.
– Maricela Rivera, a singer/songwriter from Turlock.
– Mattéa Overstreet, a singer/songwriter from Modesto.
– Viva Joaquin, three-piece rock band from Turlock.
– Josh Rosenblum Band, a pop/rock band from Modesto.
– Indian Runner, an indie/rock band from Turlock.
– and more to be announced.
A full list of artists and set times will be released as the event approaches.
There should be lots of new music from these artists, as The Old Refrain has recently recorded a new album, Viva Joaquin has announced they are entering the studio in May, and Indian Runner is releasing their latest album, “A Decent Human Being,” on April 24 on Ronald Records.
This year’s Bandstand will celebrate KCSS and end a week-long membership drive, from which the station receives much of its funding.
Though admission is free, KCSS will be accepting donations at the Bandstand, and will have merchandise for purchase including t-shirts, stickers, and pens.
