As school begins, we get tired of trying to study in a loud and busy area at home or in our dorm rooms, but luckily there are many places around California State University, Stanislaus to seek refuge.
The Vasche library is the first great place to study on campus. The university library’s three stories high building towers above the quad becoming one of the focal points on campus. On the first story you can find classrooms, the tutoring room, and a student lab with lots of computers for students to use.
On the second floor you can find a wide selection of books to check out, study areas, a computer lab and group study rooms, which have white boards, projectors and podiums available.
The top floor consists of books and personal alcoves to study in, which are a favorite among many students at CSU Stanislaus.
“I enjoy studying at the desks near the stacks of books [on the third floor] because it’s supposed to be quiet, so no one talks up there,” said Melissa Hughes (senior, Business Administration and Psychology).
The library is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Hughes also added that another convenient place to study is in the conference rooms in Bizinni Hall. You can schedule appointments to use these rooms for your own purposes.
In the Demergasso-Bava Hall (DBH) you can find many spare rooms with just tables and chairs which are available for your own use. You do not need permission or an appointment to use these rooms.
“A great place to study without being interrupted is the sitting rooms on the second floor of DBH,” said Edwin Mejia (senior, Criminal Justice).
People also enjoy going to the Naraghi Hall of Science to use the spare chairs and tables in there to study. Believe it or not, you can also access the basement in the Mary Stuart Rogers building (MSR) which consists of tables, chairs and a quiet place to study. Another favorite place to study among students is at the waterfall near the gym.
“There’s a bench by the pond where I enjoy studying,” said Brent Ward (freshman, Business Management). “Not very many people know about it, so it’s the perfect area to study.”
Through all the commotion on campus, try not to forget the peaceful spots that are perfect for your studying needs.
