Messages were sent out to Merced City School District employees this morning saying an individual made a “vague threat on social media focused on schools.”
School employees were advised to be on the lookout for the suspect and to “refrain from sharing information with families.”
According to an MCSD employee, a report was made that the suspect was spotted on the corner of Olive Ave and R St., near the Merced Mall.
The police went on to arrest the suspect, who was identified as Tanzeem Khan.
Parents responded to the event online, saying they deserve to know if their children are in danger, while others felt it was more important to keep chaos to a minimum in such circumstances.
