With the 2024 General Election being just around the corner, CSU Stanislaus’s Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) invites students to make their voices heard through a series of events that encourage voter registration and the voting process.
ASI hosted the “Warriors Rock the Vote” event on Oct. 16 in the quad for Warrior Wednesday. The event description reads that students “rock the vote by learning your voter rights and create a voter checklist to cast your vote for the General Election”.
Michael Watson (junior, Agriculture Education) is a first year transfer who is a part of the Warrior Lobby Team. He expresses the organization’s goal to help drive civic participation amongst Stan State students in this voter registration drive.
“Typically, college students are more active in elections. We just hope to increase that turnout by presenting them with information that’s going to help them be more informed when it comes time to vote in the upcoming election on Nov. 5,” says Watson.
The booth presented two flyers with QR codes students can scan to help with their voting process. Watson broke down the information from them.
“One code will take you to the Secretary of State website for California, and it includes all of the relevant information regarding if you want to check your status, if you’re registered to vote, or if you’re a first-time voter. It helps you register through the process. It also allows you to review the ballot measures and also the candidates running for your respective district.” he said.
Teagan Irish (junior, Public Health) and Noel Alexander (senior, Communications) thought the booth provided insightful information.
“Knowing that I can vote at the Stan State campus is really helpful. I don’t live here, so knowing I can still make an impact by mailing my ballot here is really great,” said Irish.
Alexander was drawn in by the snacks given away at the booth, but he “was encouraged by all of the information provided.” He didn’t know Stan State had events involving the election.
If you missed this Warrior Wednesday event, ASI has more upcoming events that relate to the topic of the 2024 General Election like “What’s on the ballot?” on Oct. 30. The same flyers will be passed out to further inform students of their registration status and more information on what is on the actual ballot.
This is all leading up to the on campus ballot drop-offs on Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All students have to do is bring their signed and sealed ballot envelope to the curbside drop off located at University Circle by the Reflecting Pond.

What a great article. Thank you so much for sharing this information and creating awareness about the impact young voters have on the upcoming election. I also like how you mentioned the QR codes because to be honest, some of us are “lazy” to look this information up. I am so glad Stan State is offering this opportunity to students! Thank you so much for sharing. Also, I love the headline of the article. It reminds me of Aaliyah’s song, Rock the Boat! Attention grabbing!
