It’s never too early to start preparing for holiday shopping. This year you can join Pageo Lavender Farm for the ultimate holiday market experience. Grab your friends and family to spend some time with your loved ones. Pageo Holiday Market is a comforting atmosphere filled with live music, delicious food trucks, drinks and unique handmade gifts from local artisans. You can shop local and support small businesses in your community this year.
The event is taking place on November 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Pageo Lavender Farm is a local lavender farm turned into an events venue located in Turlock, CA. It’s owned by Patty and George Kapor, who successfully opened the farm back in 2004. Aside from the holiday market coming up, Pageo Lavender Farm offers many things like a beautiful gift shop, lunches hosted by a catering team and a picturesque landscape with rows of green and lavender that provide an ideal backdrop for weddings or other events. After speaking with George Kapor, he was able to share a little bit about the history of Lavender Farm.
“Since the purchase of a 10 acre parcel in California’s Central Valley in 1998, the Kapor family has transformed the property into a self-sustaining lavender farm specializing in growing and harvesting not only lavender, but herbs and flowers as well. In addition to this, it has become an award winning destination venue which hosts numerous events each year including weddings, receptions, vendor fairs and fundraisers,” George Kapor said, “The family owned farm has an annual harvest which begins every June in which the lavender is hung to dry in bundles as well as being distilled for the essential oil. The dried lavender and oil are used to make various handmade items such as soap, lotions, hydrosols, linen sprays, sachets and other products that are sold in our onsite retail shop as well as D-2 in downtown Turlock. We also focus on repurposing old used items, such as lumber and metal, into handmade items such as tables, chandeliers and wreaths.”
On top of all of these luxuries they also started hosting a seasonal event every year called “Pageo Holiday Market.” This year will be the 8th annual market.
“As a small business we know how hard it is to get started and make ends meet. Because of this, we decided to start the Pageo Holiday Market the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. We felt that, with it being small business Saturday, it was the perfect time to host an event for local small businesses,” George Kapor said.
At last year’s event, participants were seen smiling at each other and all in good company. All of the vendors had their creative booths set up, and there were many vendors for everybody to explore. Food, jewelry, clothing, baby toys, gifts and tons of other areas for you to find your niche. If you’re interested in attending the event this year, here’s what you can expect.
After speaking to the market coordinator, George Kapor, he was able to share some exciting details about the upcoming event and what kind of vendors and activities that attendees can expect.
“We look for, and our priority, are handmade items and products by the individual. We look for unique items and an abundance of variety. Live music, soap, candles, wood, food, lavender products and an assortment of other gifts for the holidays can be expected at this year’s market,” he said.
Kapor also shared the activities and entertainment that will be present this year.
“This year we will have live music provided by B&C Music,” he said, “Our neighbors, Macedo’s Mini Acre, will bring their Alpacas. There will also be food trucks, games such as bocce ball, corn hole, small batch homemade ice cream and face painting.”
Pageo Holiday Market has grown tremendously since it first began in 2017. When the market was first invented, the event was held in a small barn with a minimal number of vendors. As the community has only continued to grow, the amount of vendors has skyrocketed to where they are today at over 110 local businesses coming together, according to their holiday market Instagram page @pageo_holidaymarket.
“It brings people together for a unique indoor and outdoor shopping experience and allows local vendors to showcase their work. It allows guests to enjoy themselves in a park-like venue amongst the trees with a glass of wine or specialty cocktail,” Kapor says.
Here is a message from Pageo Lavender Farm as a whole, after their holiday event was wrapped up last year.
“To our vendors, we appreciate the dedication and creativity you brought to the market. Your unique products and displays added vibrancy and diversity to the event, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees. To our customers, we extend our sincerest gratitude for choosing to spend time at our Pageo Holiday Market. Your enthusiasm and patronage not only supported local businesses but also contributed to the festive atmosphere that made the event so special. We hope you found joy in discovering new treasures and connecting with our community of vendors,” it read.
During this event, Pageo’s kitchen is also open so you can enjoy a delicious meal while finishing up all of your holiday shopping. During last year’s event, individuals were seen finding a cozy spot to sit down, socializing and enjoying a mimosa or a cup of coffee. If you’re bringing the kiddos, spoil them with a delicious cup of hot chocolate. You can also find a wide range of different local food trucks out there for the day as well. By attending this event, you will most definitely be able to find something for that special someone in your life. If not, maybe a little treat for yourself wouldn’t hurt.
Attending last year’s event, some stand out booths were the local handmade jewelry makers, as well as any form of home decor. One that really stood out was Jewelry by Mamta. During the holidays, it always feels more personable to support anywhere that you can when it comes to shopping locally. Each item has been handcrafted with love, hard work and dedication. So next time you’re thinking about buying your dad some beef jerky or your mama a beautiful new rug, consider checking your local businesses first.
If you’re interested in attending the event, you can find all of the details on Pageo Lavender Farm’s Instagram page which is @pageofarms, or their actual holiday market page which is @pageo_holidaymarket. Their Facebook page, “Pageo Holiday Market” has 1.6k people interested in attending the event. If you’re interested in getting involved next year as a vendor, Kapor was able to give some good insight on how to navigate through that.
“Vendor applicants can email or reach out to us via Facebook or Instagram. This year we had over 200 applicants apply,” he says.
