Nathan Huff’s exhibition titled, “Home, and Other Foreign Places” took place from Aug. 25 through Oct. 10, and was located at the Stan State’s art gallery in the Theatre building lobby. The exhibit featured a wide variety of paintings, sculptures and installation forms.
Huff describes his pieces as expanded sculpture and paintings, he has been creating works of art like this for the last 25 years. He utilizes materials like wood, paper and certain objects to create a display that invites the viewer to imagine.
Gabriela Ochoa (BFA Studio Arts, Senior) enjoyed the contrast and the compositions Huff created through different objects. She’s fascinated by the rhythm and movement that he creates through his art.

“One thing in particular that I found really cool is how he integrates stuff like a faucet onto paper. Like an actual object on two dimensional work or even how he arranges things not in the traditional way,” Ochoa said.
Madison Dean (BFA Studio Arts, Freshman), said that her favorite thing about Huff’s exhibit is his work titled, “Prayer for Rain.” She really enjoyed all of the blues and oranges he utilized in this specific installation. The opposite colors are what really intrigued her about the piece.

She was very inspired by Huff’s work saying that, “I like his mystery and I would like to create art that sparks thought in somebody else. Rather than just painting something that you can obviously see what it is. I want people to look at my art and go, “I wonder what she thought about that.”’
