As the World Series gets underway, Stan State students are following the action closely. This year’s matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays has sparked conversations across campus.

The Stan State campus was lively with baseball discussions this week. Jaden Murrey (Senior, Exercise Science), an Oakland Athletics fan, said he hopes that the Blue Jays will win the World Series, though he expects the Dodgers will take the championship

Branden Quintanar (Freshman, Criminal Justice), a San Francisco Giants fan, has placed a bet with his parents to see who’s going to come out on top. He’s betting on the Blue Jays.
When asked about his favorite part of attending games, Quintanar said, “Probably getting garlic fries,” adding that they’re his go-to snack at any professional baseball game.

Herman Luna (Senior, Psychology) came to Stan State from Sonoma State, believes that the Dodgers have a strong chance of winning.
“I know the Dodgers are gonna win, we’ve got the strongest team on the roster. We’ve been there before, we’ve got the higher stakes,” Luna said.

Pierce Sailer (Senior, Finance), the right-handed pitcher for Stan State, baseball team, expects the series to be competitive.
“It’s for sure going seven games, I’ll give the edge to the Blue Jays, and that’s because I’m a Brewers fan,” Sailer said.
Sailer added why he gives the edge to the Blue Jays, stating because of his friends.
“All my friends are Dodger fans, and they can’t win,” he said.
Across campus, students are sharing predictions and following the World Series as Major League Baseball’s Championship begins.
