Code Red Entertainment and its multicultural program plans to send students at California State University, Stanislaus on a mini-vacation to various places around the world through their Tastes of the World event.
This adventure for your tastebuds will be held on Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the quad.
“One of the multicultural program’s goals is to collaborate with various culture-based clubs and organizations on campus,” Moonisah Ali, Multicultural Coordinator for Code Red Entertainment, said.
The Indian Student Association and the Portuguese Club are collaborating on this event by providing the food. There will be a number of foods that will be up for grabs.
Two specific foods being offered are samosas – which are flaky fried pastries exploding with fillings like potatoes, carrots meats and spices – and cannolis, a tube-like pastry filled with sweet ingredients like ricotta cheese.
There will also be a variety of Portuguese foods available at the event.
“Another goal for the event involves having students sample food they never thought they would have tried,” Ali said.
Being open and ready to taste new things can be a treat, as well as a learning experience. Tastes of the World aims to expose cultures but also to encourage people to showcase their culture.
“Food is a great way to expose people to cultures they may be unfamiliar [with],” Ali said. “Tastes of the World is a way of exposing students to culture through food.”
If you have any questions regarding the event contact Moonisah Ali at 209-664-6514 or email at [email protected].
