Last Friday night the Warriors took on the UC San Diego Tritons in their first home game of the season at Ed and Bertha FitzPatrick Arena.
The Warriors fell short to the Tritons in their three set match, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.
Freshman Paige Walker led the Warriors with a team high 12 kills and added 13 digs. Blair Ehrlich, also a freshman, followed with a total of 8 kills.
The young Warrior volleyball team played for a crowded arena against the Tritons.
Sara Crowl led the team with 15 total digs. Standout freshman Taylor Massgengale also added 6 kills and 3 blocks for the Warriors as they fought for a win.
Leading the Tritons was Lizzy Andrews with 10 kills.
Although the Warriors did not come up with a win for the night, they pushed forward for their next home game.
The following Saturday the Warriors took on the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes in their second matchup of the season at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Leading the Warriors in total kills was freshman player Jocelyn Cervantes with 13 as well as 16 digs and 3 aces.
After putting up a fight in the first two sets, 25-21, 25-15, the Warriors came up with a win in the third set, 25-18.
After their third set win, the Warriors were not able to maintain their lead and ended up losing, 25-13, in the fourth set.
Leading players in the match against the Coyotes included freshman Sarah Crowl with 20 digs and Paige Walker with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Hannah Green came up with 39 assists for the Warriors. Green also made 2 serving aces for the team.
Leading the Coyotes was Brenna McIntosh with 8 blocks and 12 kills. Through the match, the Coyotes controlled the net with 21 team blocks.
The young Warrior team will be heading to the Bay Area over the weekend.
They are set to play Sonoma State Oct. 5 followed by San Francisco State Oct. 6 both starting at 7 p.m.
