Haunted halls, carnival games and trick-or-treating – California State University, Stanislaus gives families a safe and spooky place to be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Halloween night with the Haunted Halloween Gala.
“This is the only time Housing opens up their gates to the whole community,” Annabelle Bautista, Resident and Engagement Community Coordinator, said.
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Haunted Housing Halloween Gala, providing carnival games, book giveaways and a trick-or-treating map that leads to all the students that are waiting to give out sweets.
“Students in housing enjoy handing out candy,” Bautista said, also explaining that many students and faculty members bring their families to the event.
“It’s a really safe environment for them to meet other students.”
The event is free to enter and attracts families with children as young as a few months old to junior high school age.
The fun kicks off just before the sun goes down and ends in time to put the little ones to bed. Then you can have some fun of your own.
“It’s from 6 to 8 [pm] on the 31st,” Bautista said. “It’s a little dark so it’s still spooky, but kids have enough time to get home and get to school on Friday.”
Anyone looking for a place to take the kids without having to worry about the safety of the candy or the trick-or-treaters collecting it, bring your families out to the housing area on Halloween night and participate in an event trusted for the last two decades.
And for those who want to be a trick-or-treater instead of bringing one, there is no age limit to enjoy the haunted halls, games or giveaways.
Come down and enjoy this annual experience.
