The Warrior volleyball team’s upset special fell short against Cal State L.A. in 4 sets last Thursday night at Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick arena.
The Warriors started strong, taking the first set by a score of 24-26. Freshman Christianna Knutson led CSU Stanislaus in the first set with 6 kills, tallying up 9 for the night. Blair Ehrlich also chipped in with 5 kills in the first set, ending with a team-high 13 for the game.
After securing the first set the Warriors fell to the Golden Eagles 25-12, 25-19 and 25-21. Freshmen Hannah Green and Sarah Crowl had stand out games. Green had 5 kills and 32 assists on the night, Crowl added 24 digs.
The Warriors bounced back Friday night and ended their 5 game skid with a 3 set victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills at Fitzpatrick Arena.
The Toros gave 12 points to the Warriors in the first set on service errors alone with the Warriors winning that set 25-22.
Ehrlich had 12 kills on the night along with 11 digs. Fellow freshmen Jocelyn Cervantes added 10 and Paige Walker contributed 5.
The Warrior defense was also aided by stand-out by Crowl with 10 digs, sophomore Jordan Harris had 4 blocks.
Looking to win their second straight, the Warriors are back in action Oct. 17 as they visit Humboldt State followed by a game Oct. 19 at Cal Poly Pomona.
