After 162 regular season games and multiple playoff series, the gleam from the Commissioner’s Trophy is shining bright as the World Series has finally dawned upon us.
Only two teams remain for this glorious achievement: the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals.
In a rematch of the 2004 World Series, the Cardinals have a chance to avenge the championship that eluded them nine years ago after the Red Sox swept them in four games.
Both teams are the number one seed in their respected leagues, which justifies why they ended up as opponents in October’s World Series.
Both teams feature powerful lineups with great hitters along with pitching staffs that have been strong for the duration of the season, including the playoffs. The only difference between the teams may be the facial hair that the Red Sox players have fashioned during these playoffs.
This World Series marks the nineteenth appearance for the Cardinals and the twelfth for the Red Sox. It is also the fourth World Series that the teams have faced off in with the Cardinals winning in 1946 and 1967 and the Red Sox in 2004.
If the Cardinals prevail, they would win their twelfth World Series championship, which is second in MLB history behind the New York Yankees with 27.
But who will win? Both teams seem to be evenly matched on paper, but the oddsmakers in Las Vegas have the Red Sox as favorites in the best-of-seven series.
Tune in on FOX and find out which team will bring home another World Series trophy this year.
