It is not very often you get the chance to experience sweet serenity in the middle of a giant pine forest next to a shining lake. Well, my friends, now is the time to take advantage of this glorious opportunity.
California State University, Stanislaus’s very own Student Recreation Complex (SRC) is hosting another invigorating yoga and hiking trip at Pinecrest Lake, Saturday, Oct. 26.
This is not an adventure you want to miss out on – especially if you have never been to a place so surrounded by nature and good company.
Take it from CSU Stanislaus’s yoga instructor Lorie Wilson. She went on the adventure last spring and taught yoga to the students right there on the shore.
“It’s a neat experience to do yoga on the beach,” Wilson said. “People really bonded with one another and it was nice experiencing nature together.”
The last day to register is Friday, Oct. 18 by 4 p.m. in the SRC. The cost for students is $30, and it’s $35 for non-students. When you go to pay, be sure to have your warrior card in one hand and either a check or cash in the other. They will not accept credit or debit cards, but they will accept “warrior cash.”
Also keep in mind that you will need to attend a mandatory pre-trip meeting Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. to fill out health and liability forms. You’ll also receive more information regarding the trip. After completing all the steps, you will be ready for an epic, energizing and healthy day.
Everyone must abide by all park policies while in Pinecrest, as well as the Student Code of Conduct. They also ask that no one brings alcohol or illegal drugs on the trip, and although it is permitted in certain areas, they would prefer it if no one smokes on the hike.
All students must be at the SRC at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. The vans will depart at 9:20 a.m., so don’t be late. You don’t want to be the one left behind.
Transportation, a yoga instructor and a yoga mat will be provided to you for the trip. Snacks and a lunch will not be included. Be sure to pack yourself a hearty sandwich and plenty of water.
If you want to know exactly what to bring, or see an overview of the itinerary for the day, go to csustan.edu/src/OutdoorAdventure.html or call 209-667-3705 for any questions or concerns. This trip is a great way to step out of your comfort zone and enjoy a relaxing day of healthy exercise.
