The intramural sports season is quickly approaching at California State Universiy, Stanislaus.
Intramural sports strive to provide opportunities for participation to all students on campus.
All sports offered are very competitive and keep students engaged in campus activities.
Associated Students Incorperated (ASI) and University Student Union (USU) organize intramurals for students to participate in their favorite sports in a fun, compelling atmosphere.
With intramurals there is no pressure of tryouts or making the cut; all students need to do is sign up.
Sign-ups have already passed this semester but look for them again early Spring semester 2014.
Jake Regal, recreation coordinator of ASI and USU, elaborated on how intramurals sports are both enjoyable and entertaining.
“I also want to mention that there are six half semester sports with four of them being offered this semester. While kickball and Texas Hold’em will be offered next semester in lieu of ultimate frisbee,” Regal said.
Sports being offered this Fall semester are: flag football, basketball, indoor soccer, outdoor soccer and volleyball for a full semester, with volleyball including a single gender and a co-ed team.
The cost for full semester is $15. Each sport plays one night a week.
“It only takes up about an hour of our day and keeps us active after a long day of studying,” Ivette Ramos, alumni student at CSU Stanislaus said.
“I was involved in intramural sports because it was a way for me to release my stress from studying all day.”
Pre-season begins Sept. 23 and season begins the week of Sept. 29.
