Downtown Turlock welcomes the university with Red Brick Bar and Grill launching a new weekly special, College Night.
Starting on March 20 from 9 to 11 p.m. guests will be able to participate in karaoke, and those with their student ID card will receive $1 off hard liquor and buy-one-get-one beer specials.
“This is a college town. They really embrace Red Brick,” said Caroline Backus, co-owner of the restaurant.
Backus mentioned that students have always been their major supporters. The idea of College Night came about in an effort to attract even more students on Thursday nights.
“College Night? Oh man. All the girls are gonna be there,” said Anthony Linares (junior, Business), when expressing his excitement for the event.
“All the Turlock girls, all the Modesto girls, all the Merced girls.”
Students have expressed the desire for downtown to offer more Warrior-related events and merchandise. Red Brick’s College Night may be the first step towards developing the relationship between the university students and the city.
The allure of drink specials and singing “Don’t Stop Believing” with friends is sure to bring in a crowd.
“Now that I know about it, I really want to go,” said JoAnne Saba (senior, Nursing). “It’s exciting that a downtown bar is trying to interact with the college.”
So college students, grab your ID and your friends for a night on the town. The karaoke starts at 9 p.m., but Red Brick serves dinner as well. From 5 to 10 p.m. the grill is open for those wanting to grab a bite or even just an appetizer and drinks beforehand.
The Red Brick dress code usually entails a no-sneaker, no-tee-shirt uniform, but because the bar and grill is promoting a more casual atmosphere for Warrior Night, Backus suggested that dress might not be enforced as strictly.
Red Brick is located at 153 South Broadway. Parking is available in the lot next door or on the street.
