Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) is hosting #2014CANDIDATES in the event center from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 21.
“The goal of the event is to specifically educate students on who is running to represent them at the local, state and federal level,” Edgar Garcia (Governmental Relations Coordinator) said.
Local candidates Mike Brem (Mayor of Turlock Candidate), Gary Soiseth (Mayor of Turlock Candidate), Harinder Grewal (Assembly Member Candidate) and Michael Eggman (Congressional Candidate) will answer questions on the local, state and federal level.
Candidates will discuss issues that are specifically tailored to California State University students.
“The types of issues that will be discussed at this event will include the gap between the City of Turlock and CSU Stanislaus at the local level, funding for the CSU system at the state level and advocacy for special interest groups at the federal level,” Garcia said. “Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions during a 30 minute Q&A session.”
ASI encourages students to come and be informed about our potential representatives.
The event will also include free refreshments and the opportunity to win prizes.
“Please join ASI Student Government for a free meal and have the opportunity to learn more about the candidates running to represent you,” Garcia said.
The #2014CANDIDATES event offers students the opportunity to become more informed on issues concerning college students as well as meeting local candidates.
