Dutch Bros Coffee has grown and expanded in popularity over the past few years. The Monte Vista location, located across from the Stanislaus State Turlock campus, had its grand opening in 2020 and is known to be a student hot-spot.

Customers can choose from more traditional coffee style drinks or “Rebel” energy drinks. Makayla Williams, manager of the Monte Vista location, gave her drink recommendations of what students should order before heading to campus.

“Definitely a Golden Eagle if they want coffee but if they want a Rebel, my favorite at the moment is Passion Water,” Williams said.

While the Monte Vista location is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., the peak hours since campus has opened back up are the windows of 7 a.m to 10 a.m, 2 p.m. -to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Williams explained that the location is strictly drive thru and walk up only, which may also contribute to to the rise of traffic since the repopulation of the Stan State campus.

“We see a a lot of college students come before or after class with their friends,” she said.

One of the most popular drinks at the Monte Vista Dutch Bros is a Flapjack Freeze. The Flapjack Freeze is a blended coffee consisting of salted caramel, vanilla and white chocolate flavoring. This may be good for students who do not like strong coffee taste, but still want coffee.

Caydee Espinoza (junior, Health Science) mentioned said she orders a medium Caramelizer for cold days and a medium Flapjack Freeze for hot days. She said that her options vary depending on the weather.

Another popular order is a blended OG Gummy Bear lemonade. The OG Gummy Bear is a flavor that comes in a variety of different forms, such as a lemonade, Rebel, tea, and it can be ordered iced or blended.

Amaya Aguilar (junior, Psychology) recommended this drink to students and likes to order it different ways. She explained that this could be a great option for those who love sour drinks.

An iced Palm Beach green tea is another customer favorite. The Palm Beach consists of pomegranate and peach flavoring. Sayna Pouv (sophomore, undeclared) shared that this is her go-to drink when she goes to the Monte Vista location.

You can also find the iced Peach Rebel to be a popular buy. This can be ordered iced or blended and is considered an energy drink. There are different flavors that can be ordered with the Rebel such as blue raspberry, strawberry, and watermelon.

“I always get the Iced Peach Rebel,” said Niyali Manada (sophomore, Creative Media).
