Phi Sigma Sigma had their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 2. It was a great opportunity for the Turlock community to come visit the Stanislaus State campus and to support the sorority’s efforts of raising money for their philanthropy, the Kids in Need Foundation.
There were many booths that were set up for the children and families that came to the event. Each of them was run by sorority members and each had fun running their stations. When the children were done at the booths, sorority members gave each a piece of candy or a toy.
Violeta Reyes (junior, Business Administration) shared her favorite parts about the event.
“My favorite part was being able to see the kids run around with smiles on their faces having a blast and playing at every one of our booths,” she said.
Every child participated in one of a few different Egg Hunt categories, which were split into age groups (0-4, 5-8, 9-12). From the sisters’ perspectives, it was an amazing opportunity to watch the children have fun and be excited to get all the eggs that they could possibly get.
A raffle was also held and was exciting for all who participated. One of the raffle prizes was a bike that was won by a Phi Sigma Sigma member.
Victoria Estrada (junior, Psychology) shared more prizes that were presented.
“Some of the prizes were pop it’s fidget toys, mini blow-up beach balls, toy squishies, and candy,” she said.
An Easter Bunny and princess were on hand to spread joy and the Easter Bunny had a great time dancing, playing Musical Chairs and greeting the children.
“My favorite part was watching the kids run to get the eggs and being excited for the Easter Bunny and princess,” said Estrada about the egg hunt.
The opportunity for Phi Sigma Sigma members to host this event has strengthened their bond as sisters. For the sisters, the event is one of the biggest they put on all year. Bringing it back after more than two years of COVID-19 has given the group a needed boost and they hope to bring it back for years to come.
