For some time, many students pondered what the closed buffet-style counter was when they walked through the new Student Center building. That buffet-style counter is called the Red Wave and is one of Stanislaus State’s newest dining facilities within the Student Center. The Red Wave officially opened its services to students on Tuesday, April 5.
“I wondered what it was going to be, I knew of the warrior grill but not of the red wave,” said Tyler Blea (junior, Art).
The Red Wave’s expected opening date was set for the fall semester of 2022. However, many students received an unexpected email early in April detailing the early opening of the Red Wave.
The dining facility offers sushi, poke and ramen bowls, thus adding a diverse selection of meals on campus.
“I was surprised to hear that the opening got moved to this semester, but I am also excited to try this new sushi spot on campus,” stated Tomas Huerta (senior, Psychology) “I would say that I am most looking forward to trying the sushi and the noodles, and I applaud Stan’s decision to include more diverse food options.”
Blea shared similar thoughts regarding the food choices at Red Wave.
“I am a sushi fanatic, so I am most excited for the sushi. It is great to see the campus providing a diverse variety of food to students and faculty,” Blea said.
The Red Wave is set to be open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices range anywhere from $5 to $15. Students can also utilize their meal plans. As for the Boost ordering app, the app has not yet been set up for the Red Wave. However, the campus has stated that the Boost ordering app will be made available for the Red Wave in the near future.
