Students get a lot of emails every day which are easy to ignore, but this one could improve your mental health and lead you to success.
CSU Stanislaus students should have received an email in September with the subject “Meet YOU at Stan State.” Stan State has partnered with YOU at College to offer a unique and free web portal dedicated to supporting student health, happiness, and success.
YOU at College is a platform that created for students by students to address and help mental health issues on college campuses. It was pioneered to provide personalized and customized care to university students.
According to an email sent by the university, “YOU will prioritize your individual well-being and self-awareness by providing tips, online tool, and campus resources that get you exactly what you need and when you need it.”
When logging in for the first time using your school email and password, you will be walked through onboarding questions which introduce you to the various functions and then launch you into the world of health and wellness to help personalize the experience.
The platform offers self-checks, goal planning, Stan State campus resources as well as student posts. There are also many articles and stories on topics like, stress and anxiety, loneliness and depression, mindfulness, and balance as well as diversity and identity and many more. It is self-explanatory and user friendly and offers many tips and tricks to help be the best version of yourself mentally, physically, and more.
Succeed, thrive, and matter are the three topics YOU at Stan State focuses on. Succeed works with academics and career, thrive is working on your mind and body, and matter is connections and purpose.
Health Education & Promotion (HEP) is an on campus resource to support student wellness for health education. They are currently holding YOU at Stan State workshops where to walk students through creating and customizing their profiles.
Megan Rowe, health education coordinator at Stan State, is very excited for the launch of YOU at Stan State.
“YOU at Stan State leads to happier, healthier, and more successful students by connecting them to the right resources at the right time,” she said. “YOU is a comprehensive digital platform that was created to help you navigate college life, 24/7, 365 days a year.”
Gabby Rawson (junior, Communication Studies) wasn’t familiar with the new tool, but thought it sounded useful.
“I have not heard of YOU at Stan State before, but it catches my attention and sounds interesting,” she said.
Rawson decided to login and create her profile while speaking with the Signal.
“This is really cool. I like that it has all the campus resources, and I didn’t even know we had some of these on our campus,” she said. “I think this could be very good for students to use.”
Taylor Whittington, a Stan State health educator noted that the site will give students instant access to a number of resources.
“YOU creates a one-stop shop to accessing hundreds of evidence-based online videos, tools and resources,” she said.
