Dr. Olivera Grujic joins the Stanislaus State Computer Science department this semester as an assistant professor of computer science. As a former professor at the University of Southern California, she is ready to enjoy the agricultural life of the Central Valley.
Here’s what Grujic had to say to the Signal about her teaching background and how her research style pairs with her teaching purpose.
Q: Will you tell me a little bit about your teaching background?
A: I had a lecturer position and I had 400 students in my class. USC had an online policy since the 70s and were videotaping their lectures.
Q: What would you like students to know about your teaching style?
A: I have experience teaching online and the result of that was that all my lectures were recorded.
Q: Will you tell me a little bit about your research background?
A: Research wasn’t required at USC, but the students wanted to do it. I have done research in A1 for social good, or A1 for security data.
Q: What would you like the Stan State community to know about your research?
A: I did a lot of mentoring and took female students to Grace Hopper.
