Main Dining provides CSU Stanislaus students who have food allergies with options to improve their quality of life.
Meals, served buffet-style, display labels describing what they contain to accommodate students’ food preferences.
Students may also communicate with the cooks for further food accommodations.
The cooks are trained in response to allergic reactions and meals for student with severe allergies are personalized.
Main Dining chefs change their gloves and cutting boards during meal prep to avoid cross-contamination.
The salad bar gives various options for vegans and vegetarians.
Their hydration station serves three different milks: oat, almond, and soy.
The meals at Main Dining are also provided at affordable prices for CSU students, making them more accessible.
Main Dining serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
Check Stan State’s Dine on Campus website for weekend hours of operation.
The Main Dining daily menu is available on their website and their TV displays also have QR codes prompting customers to the menu.
Yessika Salgado, front desk cashier, explains that one challenge on Stan State’s campus is not having enough food options for students.
However, Main Dining directs students to Warrior Grill or the Vasché Library Canteen (located on the first floor) for more food options.
“We know some students have severe allergies,” said Saigado, “and we try to give them those options.”
Alia Reyes (Freshmen, Creative Media) appreciates the accessibility of on-campus food options.
“I do find it convienent to eat on campus because there’s like a lot of options here . . . if you don’t have a plan, it’s good and cheap,” said Reyes.
Reyes and her classmates meet up for meals while waiting for their next classes.
Leaving campus to get a meal is time-consuming, and having food available before class is one less thing to worry about.
Astrid Hernandez (Freshman, Criminal Justice) feels satisfied that all of the dining stations are open and that she has a variety of food options.
Jade Lara (first year, Criminal Justice) also grabs a bite to eat at Main Dining.
“I usually like the cakes there. The breakfast is personally my favorite. I do love coffee so I would say come and buy breakfast here,” said Lara.
