Wednesday night in Turlock, California’s Stan State Warriors dominated the Chico State Wildcats with a three-set sweep.
CSU Stanislaus had four game leaders in Ellison Weaver, Isabella Saucedo, Alex Byrd, and Samaya Royal.
They had a combined 29 kills, 5 blocks, and an Ace.
Stanislaus’ Haley Burdo, Eyriana Eatmon, Gabby Rawson, and Ellison Weaver had a combined a total of 37 assists for the clean sweep.
First Set
At the beginning of the match it was a back and fourth battle, but Chico rallied and ran away with four points.
In the beginning and middle of the set, the Warriors rallied and went on a five point terror which was led by Rein Bocage with two aces.
Stan State continued to go back and forth with Chico State but would end up taking the set’s last three points with another assist and a kill from the Warriors.
This led the Warriors to take the first set 25-21.
Second Set
Right out of the gate the Warriors took a fast 5-1 lead with more kills and assists but this time from Ellison Weaver and Haley Burdo.
The Warriors continued their momentum to take it to 15-7 halfway through set 2.
Stan State kept up their scoring efforts final to end set 2 with a final score of 25-14.
Third Set
Chico state started strong by going up 3-0 on the Warriors.
A battle of rallies on both sides of the net would lead to a 10-10 score in the middle of set 3.
Stan State would then begin to pull away from Chico State and take the lead.
Chico would be unable to regain the lead after this and one last assist gave the Warriors the final point of set 3.
The final score for the set was 25-17.
Upcoming Volleyball Matches
Stan State will return home on October 20th to face off against San Francisco State.
