The CSU Recreation Center offers personal training and Zumba classes that are beginner friendly.

Its facility provides a full weight room and area with cardio machines that support all kinds of fitness needs.

One-on-one personal training gives students instruction on proper form and helps meet their fitness goals through a consultation.

Yezen Zaza (Senior, Business) has been part of the Recreation Center as a fitness trainer for five years.

He believes that passion for helping other students meet their goals is the most important element of being a personal trainer.

Technique is a primary focus during personalized training and Zaza demonstrates the proper form for conducting a chest press and lifting 25 lb dumbells.

“Usually if you’re lifting heavier, you want to use your knees to lift up the weight,” Zaza said.

Trendy music sets the tone during the Zumba class and welcomes beginners.

Zumba class takes place indoors near the basketball courts on Monday and Fridays from 5pm to 6pm.

While the Zumba class consists of choreographed steps Chelsey Salas (Senior, Art) helps students gain confidence by guiding them through the beginner friendly steps of a low impact work out.

“Come in, have fun, and feel the music,” said Salas.

Salas encourages students interested in these classes to come and attend them.

Veronica Sexton (Senior, Creative Media), an editor and videographer of the Signal, has been attending this Zumba class for one year. The class has encouraged her beyond her traditional workouts.

“I didn’t really know what Zumba was, so she invited me to class, and I loved the vibe,” added Sexton
