Associated Students Incorperated (ASI) is accepting applications for Fall 2015 to fill seats on the ASI Board of Directors, including the executive positions of ASI President and Vice President.
Positions available for ASI Board of Directors are: Director for the College of Science, Director for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Director for College of Business, Director for College of Education, Kinesiology and Social Work, Director for Graduate Students, Director for Student Organizations, Director for Diversity, Director for Athletics, Director for Housing and Residential Life, Director for Environment, Director at Large and Director for Stockton Center.
“If anyone is wanting more information about the chairs, our doors are always open,” Adam Parikh (senior, Biology), Union Board Vice Chair, said. “Just come in during our business hours and we’ll be happy to talk about what it’s like to hold a chair.”
If any student is interested in applying, they are suggested to visit the office of the chairs, which is located upstairs in the University Student Union (USU) building.
USU is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays during the spring and fall semesters.
“On April 2, we’re having an event in the Carol Burke Student Lounge in the afternoon,” Parikh said.
“It’s essentially going to be like a mixer with the Board of Directors and anybody who wants to come out and find more information about the student union. It’s a good opportunity to come in and ask the board of directors anything. It’s called the ‘USU versus You’ event so there’s going to be games and things like that that encourage team building.”
Each person who holds a seat on the board acts as the voice for the department and demographic of which they are representing.
For additional information on what the duties are for each seat, visit www.csustan.edu/asi-usu.
To apply, students can download the application packet online at www.csustan.edu/asi-usu/student-government/usu-bod-application and packets are also available at the front desk on the second floor of the USU building.
Applications are due by March 25 in person.
“Come to the weekly Monday Pick-Me-Ups and you can ask Rita Gouda, our events coordinator, about the applications,” Parikh said.
