The CSU Stanislaus track team had a busy weekend competing in two track meets April 3 and 4. Part of the team was competing in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, while other members were at the Stanford Invitational.
Athletes from colleges all over the country were on hand to compete at both of the events, so it was a challenging two meets for the Warrior team.
At the SFSU Distance Carnival, the event the Warriors succeeded in most was the men and women’s 3000-meter steeplechase as every Warrior improved on their times. The top finisher on the women’s side for the Warriors was Alex Lua who came in 14th place with a personal best time of 10:59.11, followed by Dallas Campbell, Kayla Rossi and Gina Wood who came in 15th, 18th and 19th place respectively. The top male finisher for the Warriors was Eric Brooks who beat his seasonal best in the steeplechase with a time of 9:33.59. ’
On the field, Nyesa Enakaya cleared a high jump of 4 feet 10 1/4 inches and also managed to improve in the long jump with 17 feet, 5 1/4 leap.
At the Stanford Invitational, Lindsay McKee and Krystal Alnas came in first and second place in the hammer throw- both setting personal bests as well as moving up in the NCAA provisional qualifying lists. Gary Randolph kept his momentum going by finishing in second place in the shot put.
On the track, Abraham Alvarado set a new school record in the 800-meter run by clocking in a time of 1:49.29. Anthony Riggins won the 100-meter dash with an impressive time of 10.83 seconds.
Following the Stanford and SFSU Distance Carnival, the Warriors will be heading to Chico State next weekend to compete in the Chico Twilight on Saturday, April 11.
