Both women’s and men’s soccer of California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State) advanced to the finals of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) tournament finals.
Women’s soccer unfortunately came to an end as the University of California, San Diego Tritons prevented the Warriors from earning their third consecutive CCAA title.
Stan State women’s soccer was not included in the top six ranking teams, meaning the team was not selected to have an invitation to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships.
However, the men’s soccer team earned themselves a spot in the NCAA Championship, ranking fourth in the Western brackett of the tournament.
This news comes after the men’s team wrapped up the CCAA Championship tournament with a tough loss in the finals to Cal Poly Pomona. The men gained a win over Sonoma State and tied with Cal State Dominguez Hills earlier in the tournament before losing to Pomona in the title match.
On Nov. 12 Stan State will travel back to Pomona for the first round of the tournament where they will face off against California State University, Los Angeles. If the Warriors win, they will then face Cal Poly Pomona in what will be an interesting rematch of the CCAA finals.
The Warrior Grill will be hosting a viewing party at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 so come support the men’s soccer team and witness their attempt to make program history in only their second NCAA tournament appearance ever.
