As I gaze over an array of vibrantly colored pumpkins, I proclaim myself the “Pumpkin Queen.” I look over to my right and I see my date analyzing the corn maze, strategizing our latest adventure. I could not picture a more unique and autumn-esque feeling date night than at R.A.M. Farms in Turlock.
If you are in need of a classwork load relief with friends, a family-friendly trip or even a hot date, don’t worry because R.A.M. Farms is local and aims to provide a unique fall experience.
Since 2007, the pumpkin patch at R.A.M. farms has been a fall tradition for locals and visitors alike. There is no charge to enter the pumpkin patch, which makes it convenient for college students who are on a budget.
The corn maze is a thrilling experience, and will be returning for its fifth year. This year’s twenty acre corn maze design is a castle, and is open Sept. 25-Nov. 1.
Melissa Miranda (junior, Psychology) is a Turlock native and has visited R.A.M. Farms with her family.
“I really liked the corn maze experience because as soon as I entered it, I felt like I wasn’t even in Turlock anymore,” Miranda said. “Having a big attraction like R.A.M. Farms be local makes me even more proud to be from the area.”
On weekdays, general admission for ages 12 and up is $8, while ages five through 12 are $6. On the weekends, however, the cost is raised to $10 and $8, respectively. Wacky Wednesday’s corn maze admission price is a dollar off for students that provide a student identification card.
Weekday hours are noon to dusk. Friday through Saturday, the corn maze is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Movies Under the Stars is also a free service provided by R.A.M Farms that includes a free viewing of Halloween-themed movies on Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at dusk. For movie listings, visit: ramfarms.com/movies.
Look out for R.A.M. Farms’ “Fields of Ice,” a 9600 square foot ice rink, which opens on Nov. 25.
