Before Stan: Emory recently graduated from the PhD program at University of California, Merced.
Philosophy for Teaching: “I believe that for education to be effective, information presented to students must be relevant to their daily lives. I encourage students to make connections between class material and their own interests, experiences, and worldviews – assignments are often structured with this goal in mind. I find that if students believe that what they are learning is meaningful to them on a personal level, they are much more likely to engage in course material and discussion.”
