Women’s Soccer:
After having a fantastic season last year, the Stan State women’s soccer team is back to try and win another title as the defending regional champions. Their head coach Gabriel Bolton and new assistant coach, Kaycie Hutchins, are helping to push the team to another great year. The team starts their season at home on Thursday, September 3 against Azusa Pacific at 7:30 p.m. The team has lost three starters since last season but have another eight returning. A few key players to look out for this season: Chelsea Lewandowski, Jade Poon, Kristen Coleman, Mikayla Clifford and Nichole Donald.
Men’s Soccer:
The men’s soccer team this year is looking forward to making another CCAA tournament appearance. After placing sixth overall last season in conference play, they are predicted to head up in the ranks this upcoming year. The men’s team is led by head coach Dana Taylor and assistant coach, John Powell. Their first game is on Thursday, September 3 at 2 p.m. against The Academy of Art here at Warrior Stadium. The team has nine starters returning from last year which means plenty of familiar players to look out for. to name a few of the top players to look out for: Brady Taylor, Jose Ramirez, Manny Villegas and Christian Madrigal.
Women’s Volleyball:
The women’s volleyball team is back and ready to roll for the coming 2015 season. Their previous year ended with only two wins, but they have six of their starters returning for a chance to make this year the best year yet. Their new coach Mallori Gibson-Rossi gives the team a fresh start and high hopes for a great year. The assistant coach Chelsea Overholt is also providing the team with some veteran staff leadership. They start their season on the road Friday, September 4 at 11:30 a.m. against Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont. Some key returning players to look for are: Blair Ehrlich, Sarah Crowl, Paige Walker, Taylor Massengale and Hailey Gruetzmacher.
Cross Country:
Cross Country season is back and the athletes are ready to run. The Warriors runners start with the UC Irvine Collegiate and Open Invitational Friday September 4 at 8:30 a.m. for the men and 9:15 a.m. for women. Diljeet Dosanjh Taylor returns as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s teams and is joined by assistant coach Anthony Mallory. The Warriors will look to continue their recent string of successful years in conference competition and quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the CCAA.
