Hot sun, cold drinks, friends and live performances are just a few things that describe Warrior Day. Even though some students see this as one of the best days of the school year, administration has a different idea of Warrior Day.
Traditionally it is a day for the students to forget about school and have a good time. Alcohol is usually a very large part of this event. 
“Last year there were 27 arrests, and they’re relating it to alcohol because some of them were fights, some of them were public intoxications and some of them were minors,” said Danielle Fletcher (senior, Business Administration) Director of Business for Associated Students, Inc. (ASI). 
The Vice President of Student Affairs, Susanne Espinosa, who was elected last year, expressed concern about the issue of alcohol and Warrior Day. Yet, ASI does not seem to agree with her on this issue.
“We (ASI) don’t think eliminating alcohol will prevent the problems because most of the problem comes from drinking before and after, not at the event. Not the people who are 21 and responsible,” Fletcher said. 
Last year, students were not able to bring in any type of container. Espinosa brought up that she doesn’t think just having security is enough; they should eliminate the sale of alcohol completely. 
ASI is now taking action by promoting ten key points to educate students on drinking responsibly. One of their campaigns is a pledge for the students to sign. 
ASI representatives are going to all clubs and organizations to talk about the importance of being responsible.  They will have them all sign a pledge and promise that no matter what they do at Warrior Day, they will be responsible.
Another campaign ASI brought up to administration is “Don’t Be That Idiot” campaign to show students how bad they look when they over indulge with alcohol. 
Also, eight other key points were brought up to administration on March 20, and they are still waiting on the reply. 
As ASI awaits the answer on whether administration lets them do their campaign while still being able to sell alcohol during Warrior Day, they ask that students drink responsibly on the day of the event.
