SAN FRANCISCO – Several California State University, Stanislaus track and field team members recorded their personal best at the Johnny Mathis Invitational held at San Francisco State this past weekend.
Caleb Monticalvo vaulted home another win as he cleared 15-feet-1-inch and Terrence Ellis won his second consecutive 800-meter race with a time of 1:55.64.
“I have been working extremely hard,” Monticalvo said. “I am going to continue to get better in order to achieve what I am striving for.”
Katie Busi had her personal best, as well as a NCAA provisional mark, in the hammer throw with a distance of 165 feet and four inches earning her second place.
In the men’s hammer throw, Conrad Deavellar and Ryan Gates both had a personal best earning third and fourth places respectively. Deavellar had a distance of 175-05 while Gates had 174-9.
In the women’s javelin, Channing Wilson won fifth place with a distance of 102-11.
Stanislaus excelled in the men’s 800 meter run with Terrance Ellis taking first place, finishing in 1:55.64, while Dawson Vorderbruegge snagged third place with a time of 1:57.17.
In the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase, Denali Foldager placed first with a time of 11:19.14, with Danna
Jarez finishing just behind her, taking second with a time of 11:56.80.
The next track and field meet is scheduled for this weekend on March 31 at Fresno State during the Bulldog Invite.
