TURLOCK – The Warriors from California State University, Stanislaus had the hot bat to begin the weekend series against the Otters from California State University, Monterey Bay as they went 16-for-37 (.432) en route to the victory 8-4.
All but one of the starters for the Warriors contributed with at least a hit, while five players had multiple hits.
Jordan Long went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in the number five spot as the top five hitters in the lineup went 12-for-24 (.500).
“I feel like our lineup is just solid all around,” Long said. “No matter what the batting order is, we are going to score runs.”
Despite two errors, one in the second and the other in the eighth, Justin Manci contributed offensively going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
“I think we finally started to play a few good games and really realized that we have a special team that is more than capable of winning a conference title,” relief pitcher Anthony Gotelli said.
Byron Lemon picked up his third win of the season for the Warriors as he tossed up 7 2/3 innings, while allowing only one earned run on eight hits.
For the Otters, Chris Neifert picked up his fourth loss as he went only three innings, allowing two runs on eight hits.
