TURLOCK – After a good start on Friday the California State University, Stanislaus Warriors softball team did not finish strong against the Coyotes of San Bernardino. The Warriors split the series by losing both games on Friday 6-0 and 6-2.
In Game 1, the Warriors did not showcase their offense by only getting two hits.
The Coyotes shortstop Britney Butler went 4-for-4 with four RBI against the Warriors.
Brittani Weatherford, the starting pitcher, threw a complete game while giving up ten hits, six runs and striking out three.
The Coyotes in Game 2 would continue their offense by scoring a run in the first inning.
The Warriors responded in the third with leadoff hitter Weatherford hitting a single, followed up by a walk from Sarah Locarnini.
Kirstan Burns then singled to center field scoring Weatherford and Locarnini to lead the game 2-1. But the Coyotes would later come back and score five more runs to seal the Warriors’ fate.
After last weekend, the Warriors overall record stands at 11-22 and 4-10 in conference. Next game will be a doubleheader in Hayward against CSU East Bay on Friday at 1 p.m.
