TURLOCK – After coming off two losses Sunday from Chico State, the California State University, Stanislaus Warriors softball team decided to take their loss and shove it up the San Francisco Academy of Art Urban Knights.
Warriors beat the Knights 3-0 in Game 1 and then decided to stomp the Knights in Game 2 10-2.
In the first inning, second basemen Sarah Locarnini attacked the Knights by hitting a triple to left center.
Locarnini scored afterwards with a double from Jordan Flora, making the game 1-0. The Warriors would score two more times in the fifth with a few errors by the Knights defense and a double by Flora to score Brittani Weatherford.
Flora and Weatherford both had multiple hit games. Weatherford also pitched a sound complete game, allowing seven hits and no runs.
The Warriors in Game 2 stomped on the Knights’ heads and did not let them breathe. In the first three innings, the Warriors scored seven runs, until finally in the fifth inning they stopped the game due to the eight run slaughter rule.
Locarnini went 3-for-3 with four RBI’s, while Kirstan Burns and Lauren Liming both went 2-for-3. Laura Ginns had a fantastic game too as she filled in for Rachel Borges. Borges had to leave the game after taking a line drive off the face in left field. Ginns seized her opportunity by going 3-for-3 with three RBI’s.
The Warriors improved their record to 9-20 and will play next on Friday against the Coyotes of San Bernardino in Turlock at noon.
