Is anyone tired of eating at the same place? I have experienced the Turlock dining areas for the last four years and have discovered some new favorite, tasty, inexpensive places to eat around the college that offer discounts as well.
Let’s start off with the first and most important meal of the day, breakfast. Right across the street from campus located at 3191 Geer Road, on the corner of Monte Vista, is Huckleberry’s. If you’re looking for a quick, homey spot to eat around the college, this is a perfect place for breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is slightly different from an I-Hop or Denny’s that we also have around town. Not only is Huckleberry’s closer to campus, but it gives a southern feel to the restaurant with their decorations and southern comfort food from waffles and pancakes to quiche and omelets. Huckleberry gives faulty and students 15 percent off their meals if they present their Warrior I.D. card.
Another cute little location further down the street on 2922 Geer Road is House of Java. This is a cozy spot that has coffee, teas, milkshakes, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches ranging from Angus beef hamburgers to cold sandwiches, and salads. Their sandwiches are delicious and savory in every bite, and they even serve a tasty side of your choice with each sandwich. House of Java is open from six a.m. until ten p.m. on weekdays and from seven a.m. to 11 p.m. on the weekends. It also has free Wi-Fi with a quiet atmosphere that is great for studying and doing homework.
If you are not in the mood for a sandwich we have an easy accessible Wing Stop right across the street from campus too, located at 3102 Geer Road. If you haven’t tried Wing Stop, you should because it is delicious. Wing Stop has up to nine flavors to choose from for your tasty desires on bone or boneless wings. If students or faulty present their Warrior I.D. card they get a free side of fries with any wing combination they choose from, so don’t miss out!
In the mood for a great Italian meal? Stop by Vito’s Ristorante and Pizzeria right across the street from campus located at 3851 Crowell Road. It is open Sunday through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with lunch served every day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This place has a wonderful ambiance with a nice Italian feel, good but dim lighting, and it is good for a group of friends or even a date night. They serve soup, salad, pasta, ravishing raviolis, chicken, steak, seafood, pizza, calzones, sandwiches, desserts, and have a great variety of wines and beers to choose from. The quality and convenience of Vito’s makes this restaurant well worth it. Also if students and faculty present their Warrior I.D. card, they get ten percent off their meal.
No one likes to eat the same sandwich everyday, and fast-food can become sickening. These are some delicious spots that are inexpensive and convenient to the campus location. If you decide to check out these spots, don’t forget your Warrior I.D. cards to get those student and faculty discounts! Hope you enjoy!
