Turlock – The California State University, Stanislaus Warriors held off the visiting San Francisco State Gators in the final seconds to pull out the 72-68 victory at home this past Friday.
Leading the way offensively for the Warriors was Senior Reggie Jones (Center) who had a game high of 20 points as he grabbed 6 rebounds to lead all Warriors and a game high, 5 blocked shots in only 23 minutes of action.
Jones’ defensive effort helped the Warriors defense generate 14 turnovers which directly led to 16 points, as opposed to the Gators capitalizing only 6 points on their 7 turnovers.
Brett Sayad and Dan Daviess both contributed double digit scoring with Daviess adding a dozen with a steal and two rebounds. While Sayad made 4 of 8 from the field including a 3-pointer, mixing in three rebounds and assists.
San Francisco State was led by three players in double figures with 32 points off the bench from David Love (17) and Nefi Perdomo (15). James Albright scored 14 for the Gators.
Turlock- Action continued into Saturday night at home for the California State University, Stanislaus Men’s Basketball team as they came up short against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos, 65-56.
Ronnie Sawyer had a game high 20 points as he was hot from the field hitting 7 of 9 with one 3-pointer, 2 steals, while hauling 8 boards and one block.
Reggie Jones contributed with his 17 points and 7 rebounds hitting a perfect 9 out of 9 free throws. The Warriors fell to 12-8 overall, 8-8 (CCAA) as the Broncos improved to 14-5, 11-5 (CCAA). Action will continue this weekend as the Warriors will travel to San Bernardino to take on the Coyotes on Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at UC San Diego as they face off against the Tritons at 7:30pm.
