Every Monday night, for the duration of the National Football League (NFL) season, the Warrior Grill provides a place for students to watch ESPN’s Monday night football games and also offers food and drink specials.
The Warrior Grill extends its usual happy hour for this special event. Typically, happy hour is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., but for Monday night football, the deals continue until the game clock runs out. Some of the highlights of this extended happy hour include domestic beers for $2, imported beers for $3 and corndogs priced at $1 each.
If the food and drink specials aren’t incentive enough to get you out to the Warrior Grill on Monday nights, maybe a chance to win a prize will do the trick. Everyone who shows up during the first half of the game receives a raffle ticket. At half time, anywhere from three to eight winners will be picked to receive $5 in Warrior Bucks.
Check in on Facebook, and you will receive two raffle tickets. Also, if you are a member of the Fantasy Football league ran by the University Student Union (USU), you automatically receive $5 in Warrior Bucks, just for showing up. You must be present to win.
Happy hour, a raffle and football is all part of USU’s plan to offer a fun place for students to hand out.
“I want to make the Warrior Grill a cool place for students to hang out,” said KC Hall, USU Activities Coordinator. “Why go to Applebees and sit with a bunch of strangers when you can hang out right here on campus with other students?”
Students on campus can attest that the events put on by USU are sure to be a blast. Monday night football is catching on fast, and there are already regular faces on Monday nights at the Warrior Grill just two weeks into the NFL football season.
“USU does a really great job putting on these events,” said Marissa Anaya (junior, Political Science). “I came last Monday and had so much fun that I decided to come back tonight.”
Even students who are not big football fans can come out and enjoy some quality time with friends. The food and drink specials at the event are hard to pass up.
“I don’t really care who wins the game, I just come for the cheap beer,” said Joe Whitehead (senior, Kinesiology). “There are not many places in town where you can get a two dollar brew, and I don’t even have to leave campus for this one.”
Monday Night Football at the Warrior Grill is an event that started during the 2011 NFL season. Because of its growing popularity, this is one event that students can expect to have around for a while. The next opportunity to attend this event will be Monday, Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m., as the Chicago Bears take on the Dallas Cowboys.
