Students find several ways to save some cash with a Warrior Card and online services
As we all know, school has started, which means almost everyone is on a college budget of some kind. There are numerous discounts available to students when they use their Warrior Cards, as well as other discounts from websites such as collegebudget.com.
Warrior Cards can be used as an unlimited coupon in Turlock at a variety of restaurants. Places that do accept Warrior Cards will usually have a sign outside their door advertising it. These discounts can be used at many restaurants from breakfast until dinner time.
Students at California State University, Stanislaus enjoy having support from the community through discounts.
“I think it’s cool the town supports college students; it keeps us intertwined with people in Turlock,” said Amy Droege (junior, Kinesiology).
The most popular locations for students to use their discounts are Huckleberry’s, Mr. Pickles and Pizza Factory. Huckleberry’s and Pizza Factory are both located on Monte Vista Avenue, and Mr. Pickles is located off of Geer Road.
“I usually get 15% off, and it saves me about $2.50 every time I use the Warrior discount,” said Nicole Jenkins (senior, Business Finance).
Another way to save money through discounts is by visiting Collegebudget.com, a website designed only for college students. In order to shop on this website, students must create a new account using their CSU Stanislaus e-mail address. Once they have created an account, they can see what deals are going on for that week. Images will show how much the item is worth, how long it will be available and how many items are left to purchase. The website also includes coupons for items such as Nike shoes, restaurants all around California, trips, apparel and even bike gear.
Groupon.com is another great site where a student can save money, whether it be for trips around the world or restaurant deals here in Turlock. Students will have to create an account on this website as well, but once they have logged onto the site they can look at Featured Deals, All Deals, Now Deals, Getaways and Goods.
College students, especially, are very concerned with finding discounts and ways to save money.
“I would like to know about other types of coupons because I am a broke college student,” Droege said.
The community surrounding CSU Stanislaus offers a lot of discounts. To find them, we need only engage in a little research, explore some websites, or actually look at the mass-mail pamphlets we get in our mailboxes.
